wedding blog series: favourite wedding venues
The start of the new year, brings new focus for this little business of mine. I have lots of dreams and ideas stirring around in my head and I’m excited to see where 2020 takes K. Thompson Photography!
2019 brought amazing and yet frustrating situations for my business. The amazing part is that I launched an entirely new website end of November with new branding and an entirely NEW blog. The frustrating part is that about half way through 2019, I lost over 200+ blog posts from my current blogging site. Years of work just washed away, so with the new year and new decade I am bringing back as many of those weddings and portrait sessions as I can.
I shot my very first wedding in 2009 and since then have photographed over 100 weddings. Over the years one of the most popular questions I have been asked is "what is your favourite venue to photograph at?”. I honestly can never come up with just ONE venue, I have many I love to shoot at over and over again! I thought I’d put together a little blog series for the month of January to highlight some of those favourite venues with some past weddings I have had the honour of capturing.
First on the list, because this one is so near and dear to my heart… Elmhirst Resort. My parents, my two older brothers and I stayed at this beautiful resort back in October 2005 before my Dad past away in November that year. I always knew it would be the place I said ‘I Do’ and I was lucky enough that my Dad got to meet the man I said those words too. I was married to the love of my life in 2014 at this beautiful resort in Keene, Ontario and since then have photographed two other gorgeous weddings here. This resort is surrounded by Rice Lake and is stunning all year round. The decor, beautiful atmosphere and the delicious locally grown food they cook up is outstanding! Even if you don’t plan on getting married here, you should come for a weekend stay if not longer! Perfect for any special occasion to celebrate even a mini honeymoon or baby moon! They also have amazing family events and activities, I plan on returning again for a little family getaway with our girls!
Take a look at these two beautiful weddings I photographed in October 2016 & June 2018 and don’t forget to come back next week to see another favourite venue of mine. If you don’t want to miss the post, sign up for my email newsletter below.
All the best for a happy and healthy new year! Cheers to 2020!
Xo,
Katie
